Foto Fridays

Last week was filled with friends and lots of laughter.
Our group of friends had not seen each other in quite a while (and the weather was just perfect) so we decided to make some "Hühnerbraten". That is a Mennonite dish where you stew some home grown chickens outside in a big iron skillet (not sure if you call it that in english).
We went to our friends place who live on a farm. They have one cow that they milk for their own fresh milk and this cow had adopted two little calf's. While we were there I went to check this out and as you can see in the photo, all three calf's are suckling at the same time. It was so adorable.

As usual the guys played their billiard and us woman "chatted". :)
Our friend A. was the head "chef". The rest of us were there to give advice. haha
This is how it looked in the beginning.

And this is the finished product. It is accompanied with Yuca, Salad and rolls.

Afterward we sat by the smoke fire and rubbed our full stomachs. LOL.

Then on Wednesday we celebrated my friend Uschi´s birthday.
She is a dear friend and always fun to be with. This is the group of woman that were there.
All in all a great week.

I´ll be joining the rest of the gang at Java´s for Follow Friday again. Check it out here.

It sounds like a fun time. I haven't seen one of those large black pots in years! My in-laws used to have one.

Looked and sounded like a great get together. I think it's time to have a friend get together here before the winter sets in. Thank you for the idea.
Take care Betty and have a great weekend.

Looks like you all know how to have a great time with food and fellowship! Those are cherished moments! I wonder why the dish is called "Braten" when the chickens have been stewed and not roasted. So once the chickens are done, they are taken out, then de-boned and put back into the pot? Just curious here!

Sure sounds delicious!!!

Great shot of the milk guzzling trio! The mama looks content. Some folks who don't drink milk do say that milk is only for baby calves and not for humans! Quite enjoy milk with cereal.

Have a great week-end!

LOL, Betty, I let my imagination run so when you said stewing chickens, I was wondering if you put the live chickens in to cook like lobster is cooked, but then I saw your picture of the chickens cooking. It sounded like an interesting dish; I bet it does taste good! I think it is soo neat you have that group of friends; I know I said that before, but it is just neat to have a group like that to hang out with and do fun things like this with! Cute picture with the cow and calves!

have a great weekend!
