2011 remembered

I saw this on some other blogs and liked the idea of a look back at 2011. Here are the highlights of our year in pictures.

January 2011
Trip to eastern Paraguay with our cousins who were visiting from Canada.

Reise mit Anni u Evald (Foz-Papillon) Jan 2011 158

 February
My sister from China came for a visit after 3 years. We spend a ladies night out.

varios 1--2011 009

March
Nico was supposed to get groomed, but instead he was "shaved". It traumatized both of us.

April
We get a new pet who disappeared a few weeks later. Never to be seen afterward.

May

News of two friends who have cancer reaches us. It is devastating and brings us to focus on how short life can be.

June
We celebrated our annual Thanksgiving feast.

Huge kettles of meat are cooked for about 800 people to eat the next day.

July
I turned 50!!

August
Rodeo in the Chaco

September
My oldest turns 25. I share her birth story.

October
My baby turned 23. I did her birth story too.

November
Enjoying being with my friends and being just a little bit silly.

December
After 3 months of focusing on losing weight. 20 lbs lighter.

After looking back at my posts from the last year, I notice how much I´ve struggled to post something worth while. It makes me think, if this blog still serves it´s purpose. I´m going to be taking a blog break for now and I´ll be thinking about if I want to continue here or maybe it´s time to "shut" her down.
For now I wish you all a Happy New Year!!

I've enjoyed looking over your year and hearing from you throughout the year~! Hope you don't shut her down!

Betty, I will miss you if you decide to shut down your blog, but I will also understand and respect your decision.
As for my own blogging, I've noticed that it goes in spurts. When I am busy, there may be plenty to report but no time to write it all down and post. When I am not busy, I have ideas but no "oomph" to sort them out into written form. I'm trying a January photo challenge but giving myself the grace to post every few days instead of trying to have something up each and every day. It surely can't hurt to group 4 days of "challenges" into one post.

Hi Betty, I've remembered you toying with this idea before...at this same time of year. I don't know about you, January is just a low productivity month for me because of the heat. I hope you can get some needed rest and reconsider, friend!!

It was fun to look back at your year. I hope you will keep the option open to post here when you feel like it without worrying about it when you don't. You will be missed if you shut down, but of course I will stay in touch anyway.

Great idea - even if borrowed - this one is your story! I totally understand about keeping up with blogging! Not sure myself if I'll keep mine either. I do love the idea of keeping in touch though! God's blessings for the year ahead!

It seems like a good year for you, Betty (except for the loss of the cat and I know the struggles with your parents' health issues). I love that you stuck with your goal to get weight off and were successful with it! I do hope you take the time off from blogging here to re-focus on what you might want to write, etc and re=group and come back in a way that works well for you. I will look forward to keeping track of you on your weight loss blog and whatever else you decide to write!

This is a great review of 2011. I hope you won't shut down your blog, but of course that is a personal decision. I hope 2012 is a great year for you and your family!

Hi Betty, I enjoyed the review and it reminded me how much I've enjoyed spending time here on your blog. I understand if you decided to shut down but I hope you reconsider. You don't have to post as often or even on a regular basis-- Just do what feels comfortable.

Either way, it's always a pleasure. xoxoxo jj

If you shut her down, you better not lose touch with me! I love hearing all about your life there and have learned many things about your lovely country and your most wonderful family! What is the main thing your blog has done for me? It gave me a new and wonderful friend! I will be forever grateful!

Somehow I missed that your kitty went missing. Those big pots cooking up the meat reminded me of Africa!

I understand about the blogging as I struggle with it too. Will miss your posts but understand.

Happy New Year Betty! Glad that MOST of 2011 was great. Will be praying for a wonderful 2012 for you and your loved ones. It won't be the same for me if your blog isn't here! If you do "shut down" I hope we can still stay in touch. Many blessings and enjoy your day, week, month, year, etc! :)

Though it was not your idea, it was a good idea. It made me think of what my highlights would be.

I kinda understand your need to have a satifaction with what you post. I feel that way, too.

I've enjoyed reading your blog and feel that it's a good one. It doesn't have to be "deep" all the time. Do you realize how interesting it is for many of us to hear of life in Paraguay and to look at the pictures you post?

And also, blogging has allowed us to have new relationships, if nothing else. :)

Happy New Year to you, too!
