January

Like most people I know, I started the new year off with many good intentions and resolutions to better myself this year.
One of the resolutions was to blog more. Hopefully once a week, but no less than once a month.
I want to keep my blog as a memory "log", but also as a way of updating friends (that includes you blogging buddies) on our lives.

My second big goal is to get  back to a regular exercise plan and losing weight again. I´ve been slowly but surely gaining back some lbs and it´s got to stop. I know how to do it, I just need to DO IT!!

So, on to goal Nr. 1.
We have started the new year off very pleasantly. My husbands shop was closed from the Friday before Christmas till yesterday, so he was finally able to get some "down time". He really deserved it, he was CRAZY busy before Christmas. During his "vaca" he did some odd jobs around the house and went to the ranch to work over there and enjoy nature. Unfortunately it´s pretty hot around here, so "enjoying nature" is a relative term.... Most days our temp´s have been around 40° C/105°F, so if you want to get something done outside you do it early morning or at the end of the day. A few times we went to a hotel swimming pool our Co-op has and cooled off with friends.

Today all is back to normal. Hubby goes back to work and I´m busy at mine.
We do have a long weekend away planned for the 18th of this month, so I´m looking forward to that. January is the month for vacations here, (like July and August are up north/in the US). Everybody goes somewhere at least for a short time. A lot of people like going to the beaches of Brazil or even as far as Mexico or the Dominican Republic. But we will be keeping it small and nearby this year. Two weddings are hard on the budget...

Wedding planning is picking up. Michelle is feeling the pressure, with working full time and planning everything, it´s stressful. But we are trying to help. Especially Marisa. I´m so glad she is there to give Michelle advice.
My dress is made. Whew!! What a relief. I did not go into the process with so many expectations as last time and the dress will be much simpler, but I think it turned out ok. I guess with the second wedding you come to realize there are much more important things than how your dress looks...

So back to normalcy and a new year.

Yea that the dress is made!! I bet it can be stressful with working full time and planning a wedding; glad Marisa is helping out too! (remember comfortable shoes :)

Good goals to get back to exercise and healthy eating; I started that back up today. I just feel better eating healthier, though I do miss those treats.

Its so neat to come here and read that it is warm weather where you are, Betty, and that people plan vacations in months we consider too cold to do so (unless skiing ones). It helps me feel a bit warm reading how hot your temps are!

May it be a great year for you all!

Betty, can you pay to use the hotel pool or is it just for coop members? Curious!

It is so great to hear from you, Betty. I am glad your new year has started well and that you have a vacation to look forward to.
I know you can and will lose those few pounds again when you really make up your mind to do it.
How great that you already have your dress for the wedding. I hope Michelle's planning goes well and that no one gets too stressed. I will look forward to hearing about the plans.

I'm trying to blog more like I use to do and read blogs and comment.

It has been so cold here! We still have snow on the ground, but the roads are clear so I don't mind. Still, I wouldn't turn down a week somewhere tropical : )

We're about to have a little warm-up but I'm not happy about it. At least it won't be as hot as y'all are right now! Just sit outside and your pounds will melt off. Ha! If it was that simple, eh? LOL

I enjoyed seeing your year in pictures in the previous post. A lot happened! What a lovely wedding photo. Congrats on a new wedding coming up. I'm glad you have a dress already.

Every time you write the temperature I have to do a double take! Excited to see what your dress for this wedding looks like!

Last year I started feeling like my blog was a chore, and stopped posting often, except for my Sensational Haiku meme that I started a few years ago. It was a necessary break for me, and now I feel like it's time to get back to it! Unfortunately... I think I've lost most of my regular readers as a result, haha

Then there's also the "commenting" thing - I haven't had much time to do that, and that has lost me a ton of traffic as well. So 2013's chore, at least the beginning of it, is to get around to bloggy buddies and start sharing the love again! When you're friends on Facebook too, like we are, it's easy to let the blog aspect go. But they deserve our attention too, right?!

So excited for you that you have another wedding in the works!! This one will be far more laid back, since you're all pros at it now. I know you'll enjoy it even more.

*hugs*!

Sometimes when it gets cold up here, I think of you sweltering in the 40++ heat, and I rejoice at the cold, lol! Would certainly make use of such a lovely pool too in our summer months! I enjoyed your year in review photos!

With us now living where 24 meals/month are part of our rent, I don't have to cook much any more. Kitchen mishaps are almost non-existent. One of my famous ones was the first day we had our oldest daughter's boyfriend (now her husband) over for dinner. He was watching as I piled up the Rouladen on a serving platter. What a shock that the top Roulade rolled off the platter and onto the floor! Fun memory now after all these years! Wish I did have a photo of the look on his face!

Hi! Glad you are off to a good start for 2013 and that you got to relax with your hubby! The pool looks so nice--although it is so cold here that I'm having a hard time typing! Good to know that you have your dress already and I hope you can find some comfortable shoes to match! Have fun planning with the girls. Have a nice and fun weekend!
