Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Do you play games of luck/chance for money? Have you ever played bingo for money? Visited a casino? Placed a bet on a horse? Bought a lottery ticket?
I have bought a lottery ticket before, but that´s it. We don´t have casinos in our town, and I´m glad about that. I know if I let myself, I could lose a lot of money, if I went to casinos or played cards for money. If I had the money to do it, I would love it though...

2. Will you be preparing and/or dining on the traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage meal this St. Patrick's Day? Mashed-baked-hash browned-french fried...your favorite way to have potatoes?
St. Patrick´s is not celebrated here. So, no.
My favorite way to have potatoes is french fries.

3. What's the last thing you felt 'green with envy' over?
When my friends make trips, like to the Dominican Rep. or Switzerland and I can´t...

4. What's at the end of your rainbow?
A life with no more money worries, no envy and no sickness.

5. March 12th marks the anniversary of the death of Anne Frank (June 12, 1929-March, 1945). Anne's diary detailing her time spent hiding from the Nazi's during the war ranks as one of the best selling books of all time. Besides your blog, do you keep any sort of diary or journal? Was this a habit you developed as a child or is journaling something new for you?
I´ve tried many times to keep a journal, but daily life gets in the way and I forget to update them. So this blog is the only thing that comes close to a journal.

6. What's an item in your home or closet that contains every color of the rainbow?
My bookcase.

7. Write a limerick with you as the subject. You can do it!! Just remember this is a family friendly blog...don't make me get out my wooden spoon.
I had to look up "limerick". Never heard that one before. And now, knowing what it means, made me almost give up posting this week. ;) (I´m not the poetry kind of gal...). But here goes:

There once was a woman from P.
who loved her cold yerba tea.

she had to have it daily
and this left her gaily

if one day she missed out
you better watch out for her "shout".

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I watched all 3 seasons of Downton Abbey last week. Now I'm even thinking with a British accent. lol! I loved it! I didn't think I would, but it got me hooked pretty quickly. Loved the rolling hills and the scenery. No wonder Joyce misses that place.
It's just too bad I have to wait almost a year for the next season to begin...

You did great with your first limerick!

We have casinos in NJ, and also in nearby PA, but this was the first time I've been since we moved back. I think they're fun so it's probably just as well they're not too close : )

Have a nice day!

I've recently gotten hooked on Downton Abbey, too! I loved seasons 1 and 2--season 3, not as much, due to the loss of certain characters :(

Good job on the limerick, Betty.
I also love Downton Abbey and wish a new season was not so far away.
I understand your envy of your friends' travels.

You did great on your limmerick Betty!! I haven't seen Downtown Abby, but have heard great things about it; might have to get them and watch the past seasons.

I enjoy a bit of gambling, a lottery ticket here and there, my mom and me used to go and play bingo together, that was fun to do :)

enjoy your day!

I want to go to the end of your rainbow! Your limerick is so cute! I love french fries to but I will eat a potato any way it's prepared! Except that I'm not eating them I can't even bring them into the house!

I love you poemy thing....I'm not Irish though Jim is (of course last name is Riley (was O'Rielly before moving to America) however he doesn't celebrate St. Pat's day. I love potatoes but don't fix them to often, maybe sweet potatoe fries are my favorite, or american fries extra crispy.
Thank you for stopping by. I loved looking at the wedding pictures, such a beautiful wedding.
Take care and God Bless!!

Hi Betty...long time since I last visited...let me just say I was very impressed with your limerick.

1, Yes to all the questions

2.I used to make corned beef, cabbage with carrots but my husband can't eat it any more, so we go out. I love potatoes any way....mashed, baked, twice baked, hash browned and french fries...depending on my mood...but am eating them less and less due to wanting to lose weight.

3. I really can't remember...

4.Having enough not to worry so I can spend as much time as I want to with my family and friends.

5. Yes, I have kept a journal since I was 16.

6. My closet, my paint box and my bookcase.

7. My head is too full of excitement so I bow to your expertise in limerick writing...

8. I would love to be organized enough to find more time for blogging...

You know what? I lived in Chicago for 35 years where on March 17th, we were all Irish. We'll be having our corned beef and cabbage soon. It's a little delayed because a friend got sick, but we'll celebrate the holiday anyway.

I just finished Season 1 of Downtown Abbey and truth be told, season 2 is calling my name. I might have to stop reading blogs and go check it out. I'm really loving it!

I loved your limerick!
Also, I love potatoes--any way they are fixed!
I did buy a DVD of Downton Abbey, but I haven't watched it yet. Maybe I'm afraid I'll get hooked and won't do anything else--which is not good since I'm too busy!
Well, have a nice weekend! Bye!

French fries... You're a girl after my heart! :)

Very good limerick!

I've joined the Downton Abbey craze. I watched one episode each day of Season 1 and will be sure to start Season 2 soon.

My favorite potato is the french fry as well, although I also love the American steak house baked potato with sour cream and chives. I just love potatoes!
